Highway Maintenance Worker

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and power tools

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions

  • Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on county roads, including grading, patching, snow removal, culvert replacements, and bridge repair

  • Operate heavy equipment such as trucks, loaders, graders, excavators, and backhoes

  • Assist with road construction projects as needed

  • Inspect roads for damage and safety hazards, and make necessary repairs

  • Assist with traffic control during road closures or maintenance activities

  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment

  • Perform snow and ice removal procedures

  • Additional hours may occur during emergencies and inclement weather

  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Turner County.
